Sarah Nix Ginn's work addresses a personal need for constructing and ornamenting structures. She references a family history comprised of women whose occupations were that of garment makers and other related hand work, with techniques, processes, and content pertaining to everyday experience. As a contemporary woman, she reclaims associated materials of their labor, as well as their skills, and creates conceptual pieces of art. The readily accessible materials offer the viewer a familiar sense while holding surprising sensual and sometimes dangerous surface textures. | ||||
